| Edison Chen Quits Showbiz |

In his first public appearance since the sex scandal broke, Edison Chen announced at a press conference in Hong Kong that he intends to step away from the limelight "indefinitely" after fulfilling his existing commitments.
He plans to dedicate himself to charity and community work instead. "I've decided to do this to give myself the opportunity to heal myself and to search my soul."
The Hong Kong star admitted for the first time that most of the pictures which surfaced on the Web were taken by him. About 1,300 photos of Edison in bed with several female celebs had been copied from the 27-year-old star's computer without his knowledge.
"These photos were very private and have not been shown to people and were never intended to be shown to anyone," Edison said earlier today.
"I have failed as a role model. However, I wish that this matter will teach everyone a lesson," he added. |

| Perhaps I did sound a little harsh. Being a girl I know what it's like having your reputation dragged through the mud because of someone's actions. But I blame the girls too. Being stupid enough to take such pictures. I hope the "presents" he gave them to strip down to nothing was worth it. Plain stupidity that! I can see how much they are worth. |

| I agree with i stand alone's statement. Now I am wondering how are these girls gonna cope with that scandal now. At least Edison has confirmed to leave showbiz "indefinitely" and after following through this scandal for a while, I think perhaps the American celebs should do what Edison has done right now. For starters like Paris Hilton for example, perhaps she's better off working her sweat, blood and tears on a hard day's work minus the big fat pay cheque and the publicity. As for Vanessa Hudgens, she's better off being retired/fired "indefinitely" from the acting and singing career where she is better off doing other things or better yet go back to school and be like every Average Jane out there! |

| Ah c'mon. He didn't point a gun to the girls when he took the pics. The girls agreed for the pix to be taken, and all of them have to be responsible of their own actions. Millions of ppl done that. It's just that they are not popular enough to be circulated around.
Like he said, it's private stuff. I'm sure each of us would have something very private and maybe be devastating to be shared with the world.
And it's not like he's a pedophile or something. All "lei ching ngo yuen".
He should have monitored the computer guy while it was being fixed. Now that is careless. |

| I agree with Victor. I pity Edison (although I hardly know who he is before this!!) more than the girls. He is not supposed to be responsible for their reputation as the girls are willing to take those pictures and I believe at the point of time they should have thought of the possibilities of leaking out. As for now, I think they can only feel sorry for themselve for "being so naive" ??? Well, I disagree with this statement for being the excuse anyway... |

| Alan, I do blame both parties. The girls were the stupid ones to allow him to do such things to them. About the pricavy part, I don't buy any of it. Many of his "friends" have said that he shows off these pics as proof of conquest! Now what do you say about that? |

| JC, well said! Anne, come on, he apologize for his actions, he kena death threats! Give this guy a break and hope he changes. I have a feeling he won't be gone that easily, he's making a cameo in some movie this year, Hollywood might be giving up a chance to restart.
As for the remaining pictures, he might be keeping it for future threats, humans are greedy, they won't let it all go. |

| Have been following the news from its starting day,Ok I agree..i he has the responsible over the scandal..and should do something about it,i too respect his courage in making a decision to leave the industry...well from the press con he had yesterday,i can see that he look despressed and deeply saddened by the situation,but dont you think its its a little bit unfair for him to take all the responsible?if he decide to leave,aren't Gillian and Cecilia do the same thing?cause the failed become the youngster's role model |

| i think both edison & the girls are responsible for their actions, even if those pictures were personal, there are chances that things such as this happen, and it did....though edison have moved backwards from limelight, i admit that is really a good strategy but whats done is done...i guess now he realised that being a player, who he is does not mean that he should irk from his responsibility.....and also the girls, they knew it might be dangerous but they still did it....i guess both parties have learned a very good lesson....hopefully they all grow up after this...its pathetic to see such immature and idiotic display of so-called 'role model'..... |

| o'cmon! leave this guy alone. he has done his part (taking those pics, naughtily), done his part again (hiding while police investigating), done his part again (apologize and admit it to the public) and done his extremely difficult part - for him and entourage (to quit entertainment industry). sigh!

| I agreed whatever have said from Victor, Alan, JC, Patty and Yen.
Edison has no faults for the photos and I cannot understand those ladies involved who agreed to his recording. If the ladies have valued for their personality, in the first place they would have not agreed to it and this may not have brought upon themselves to this highlighted topics.
As he said this was meant private use and he had no intentions of sharing it out or to be shown TO PUBLIC. I feel he is truly a responsible man for taking a bold step, whereby the property was kept at his notebook/laptop was LET OUT BY A CULPRIT and is not supposed to be his fault, yet he still apologize for this incident. I feel ashamed as a lady cause those ladies are hiding and in silence blaming him and not one lady have stepped out to say a word/statement for him. IN HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS OR TO DO ANYTHINGS IN LIFE THERE WAS NEVER A ONE HAND CLAP (nor ONE WAY TRAFFIC) THAT ANYONE CAN SUCCEED IN DOING IT. " WAS THERE A GUN POINTING AT THESE LADIES FOR THESE ACTIONS !!! " My sentiments to Edison, to this case HE BECAME A SCAPE GOAT and he should not step down from Hong Kong entertainment industry.
My advice to Edison that from now on you should learn to be humble and not like those days be snobbish. I believe you will SUCCEED in HOLLYWOOD if the chance is given you. You must remember if the days come for your HOLLYWOOD SUCCESS, PLEASE REMEMBER TO THANK HONG KONG SOCIETY TO MAKE YOU TURN TO OTHER WORLD. If possible I hope you can SUE THE CULPRIT who has damaged your name and a losses in Hong Kong entertainment industry, not forgetting your loss in your endorsements too. This will teach everyone a lesson, in future they have to think twice before they do anything to people's personal property. I suggest you take a short break and rest at this point of time. Once your OFFERED opportunity come, please put all your swing to it to show your capability and let Hong Kong entertainment industry, is their losses losing you. |
