Ning Baizura's mum can now stop nagging at her daughter for "shying away" from marriage. [Sorry auntie Stella, I'm just being honest] The 33-year-old Malaysian pop star ended her bachelorette status yesterday by marrying her boyfriend of slightly more than a year, Omar Sharif Christopher Layton Dalton. The akad nikah [solemnised of marriage] ceremony was held at the Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. The bersanding [wedding reception] will be held tomorrow at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre.

"Thank you Allah for this historic day in my life," says the blushing bride. "I hope my fans will pray for our eternal happiness."

For her wedding, Ning received seven trays of gifts and RM66,666.66 hantaran (money given by the bridegroom to the bride in Malay culture). Omar in return, received nine trays of gifts.
